SCORES of suspected cannabis plants were uncovered during a police raid.

Officers from the Lower Valley neighbourhood policing team swooped on a house in Holywell Green yesterday morning and found 31 plants along with growing equipment.

A man was arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis. He was being questioned yesterday.

PC Liam Hay, from the team, said information from the public had helped lead to the raid.

He urged anyone with information or concerns about drugs in their area to contact their neighbourhood policing team via 0845 6060606 or CrimeStoppers, where information can be passed on anonymously, on 0800 555111.

Yesterday’s raid comes after suspected cannabis plants were found at an unoccupied house in Elland during an unconnected raid by the same neighbourhood policing team.

Officers searched the building on Huddersfield Road and seized several plants.

A man was arrested and released on bail pending further inquiries.
