Easter treats for everyone

SPECIAL Easter events have been planned in Calderdale next week.

The Bishop of Pontefract, the Right Reverend Tony Robinson, will be speaking at Easter services at Halifax Minster during Holy Week.

Bishop Robinson will speak at the 7.30pm evening service each day from Monday until to Maundy Thursday on April 21.

On Good Friday, April 22, he will lead prayers and meditations from 1.30pm to 3pm and will speak at the Easter Vigil service on Holy Saturday at 7.30pm.

Finally he will speak at the 9am and 10.30am services on Easter Day Sunday.

Bishop Robinson said: “Holy Week is the most important of the year for Christians.

“I look forward to celebrating this year with the people at Halifax Minster. Together we can journey with Jesus through the events of Holy Week and Easter and deepen our faith.”

Everyone is welcome to attend the services.

There will also be a week of child-friendly events to get kids in the Easter mood.

The free Holiday club will be run by St Peter’s Church, Sowerby Bridge, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm from April 18 to April 21.

Games, sport, singing, craft activities and tea parties will take place every day.

A Kids Club will run on April 23 from 5pm to 6pm. The week will end with an Easter egg treasure hunt after 10am family Eucharist on Easter Sunday and begin with a procession from the village green - complete with a donkey - to mark Palm Sunday.
