Brighouse High Sixth Form were one of sixteen schools who competed in the regional heat of the ‘Bar Council Citizenship Mock Trial Team’ competition.

Students visited Leeds Combined Court and took on the roles of barristers, witnesses, defendant, usher, court clerk and a jury.

They took on students from Barnsley College and Scarborough College in drugs and firearms trials.

Although Brighouse didn’t win, Charlotte Owens of year 12 said: “Through learning more about the job of a barrister, I now hope to follow a career in law,” she said.
