Children from Year 3 and 4 at Barkisland Primary School have created a river and a canal in their school field as part of a school topic.
In order to bring the topic to life the children were provided with soil, sand, gravel and water and had to predict the path of the river and where the water would go.
Hoses were then added and the children had to think about how to control the direction of the water. This lead them onto creating a canal and thinking about flood defence systems.
Teacher Cara Fuller said: “The children loved the afternoon and were very enthusiastic and inspired as well as a little muddy!”
