Year 1 pupils at Greetland Academy visited Turbury equestrian centre during the school’s pet inspiration week.
Throughout the week, children have learnt how to care for various pets. On Friday, pupils were shown how to groom and saddle a horse and how to care for a horse depending on the time of year.
Teacher Natalie Sheard demonstrated how to ride a horse. She said: “Some children were a little worried when they saw their teacher mount the horse.”
“The visit was a good insight into caring for pets. For some pupils, it was their first time to meet a horse. The children especially enjoyed stroking the ponies.”
