A FLAG designed by a pupil to represent Beech Hill Primary School is now proudly flying in the grounds.

Eleven-year-old Jessie El Tawagny, in year six, won a competition run by the Halifax school’s council with her design.

It features a picture of children holding hands around a globe to symbolise the range of cultures at the school, plus images representing reading, performing arts and sports.

It was created by Halifax signs and graphics firm Briggs Priestley and is now fluttering from a flagpole outside the school.

Deputy head teacher Fiona Lewis said: “The four pictures show the essence of Beech Hill and what we are all about.

“Jessie is in year six so she’s leaving us in summer, so I suppose she is leaving her legacy behind. I think she’s really excited about it.”
