The deputy head of Crossley Heath is to take over at a Halifax school in a new education partnership.

Jonathan Bownlie will take over as head of Park Lane Learning Trust (PLLT) after the school issued a statement, this week, confirming the departure of former head Steve Taylor.

The announcement follows the formation of a new school merger with ‘outstanding’ Halifax academy The Crossley Heath School.

The partnership comes in light of declining GSCE results for 2014 school leavers.

The report said: “Crossley Heath is in a perfect position to provide leadership and support to PLLT.

“PLLT has been making good progress over the last three years, but 2014 GCSE results showed a decline.”

Acting PLLT head teacher Lorraine Page said: “This is a partnership with great potential. It will be a positive development for Park Lane.”

Mrs Page will retire this Christmas and her replacement will be filled by Mr Brownlie.

He said: “I am looking forward to getting to know Park Lane students, staff and parents over the coming months and I anticipate exciting times ahead.”

Crossley head teacher Wendy Moffat will provide executive leadership to the school partnership between Crossley Heath and Park Lane.
