New toys to meet children’s needs

Children with additional needs will be able to try out special toys in a new library opening next month.

With funding from Calderdale Council, Calderdale Parents and Carers (CPC) has been able to create a sensory toy library at their base on Hanson Lane, Halifax.

The aim is to help children find the right toy to meet their needs - taking away the expensive trial and error process often faced by parents. Lizzie Leadbeater, CPC chairwoman said: “It provides the opportunity to try out products before committing to buy them, or alternatively borrow products that focus on the specific needs of children such as mobility, balance and communication.”

The toy Library will be officially launched on November 15 at the CPC’s AGM. To attend, phone 01422 343090 or info@parents-and-carers.org.uk.
