SCHOOLCHILDREN got a flavour of the Olympic atmosphere with a trip to London.
The pupils from Calder High School, Mytholmroyd, attended the “London Prepares” Olympic gymnastics qualifier at Greenwich Arena on Wednesday.
It was a chance to see world class gymnasts as the final preparations are put in place for this year’s Olympic games.
Forty-eight students took part in the trip, which proved difficult to organise because of the demand for tickets.
A spokesperson from the school said: “It was an inspirational trip of a lifetime for all students, some of whom have attended the Calder High School Gym Club for many years.
“Tickets were very difficult to obtain and it was only in the second round of ticket sales, just before Christmas, that we managed to secure tickets.”
Many of the students had dreamed of going to the Olympic Games but had been unable to get tickets, though they enjoyed seeing the arena on the trip.
