Olympic torch has been touring schools

The Olympic torch has been lighting up the faces of children around Calderdale.

Halifax’s torchbearers have been visiting schools around the area to show youngsters the special torch.

Paralympian Hannah Cockroft, from Mount Tabor, who carried the torch in Brighouse, brought it in for children at Wood Bank School in Luddenden Foot, where they held an Olympic parade.

Jerry Beaumond, who works for Lloyds Banking Group and was a official torchbearer in Halifax, visited Barkisland Primary School and Norland School.

He showed off the torch and gave a talk to children.

Mr Beaumond also took the torch to Field Lane School in Rastrick to officially open their sports day.
