A Calderdale school has been ranked in the top 20 in the country for GCSE achievement.
Crossley Heath Grammar School, Savile Park, Halifax, is 16th in the country after it achieved a 100 per cent pass rate for pupils achieving five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C including English and Maths.
The statistics put together by the Department for Education have the school as comfortably the highest performer in Calderdale.
The 15 schools ahead of Crossley Heath also achieved the 100 per cent pass rate but hey had an average point score per pupil.
Eighteen of the schools in the top twenty are from the south with Skipton Girls’ High School the only other representative from Yorkshire.
Headteacher Wendy Moffat said the results were “very pleasing” but only told part of the story of the school’s exam success.
“In fact 51% of students achieved at least ten A/A* grades and 81% achieved at least five A/A* grades,” she said.
