A CALDERDALE secondary school is on course to be one of the most improved in the entire country.
The proportion of children passing GCSEs at Park Lane Leaning Trust jumped from a worrying 23 per cent to 41 per cent this year.
In addition, those with five or more grade A - Cs went up by 13 per cent to 93 per cent, according to head teacher Stephen Taylor.
He said: “Park Lane is by far the most improved school in Calderdale and the best in Yorkshire.
“It is also possible to say Park Lane is among the top 5 per cent of improvers in the country, compared to schools with similar free school meals and or deprivation.”
Mr Taylor said staff, students and parents had worked hard and whatever the final statistics showed, the recent results were the best in the school’s history.
The latest results were also mirrored lower down the school and it also recorded two A level passes, even though the school does not have a sixth form.
“The results are really important but are not the only indicator,” said Mr Taylor.
“Ofsted inspectors say our student voice and behaviour are exceptional.”
