A ROUND of golf turned into a 16-hour marathon and 22 miles of walking over four courses for staff from the William Henry Smith School, Brighouse.

They took part in a “Longest Day Golf Challenge” starting at Bradley Park Golf Club, Huddersfield at 6am and finished there at 10pm.

Courses at Willow Valley, Brighouse, and Elland Golf Club were played inbetween and four rounds were completed.

The day was oganised by care team manager Damien Talbot on behalf of the British Heart Foundation after two of his relatives died recently from heart attacks.

Around £700 was raised by the group and they were backed by IDS Tyres and Trustsport.

Winners of the Stableford competition run over the four courses, were Dean Talbot and Ricky Brady, closely followed by Dave Beaumont.
