THE pre-school playgroup and children’s club attached to Colden Primary School provides a good service with an excellent and vibrant range of resources, according to Ofsted inspectors.
Up to 16 children can attend the playgroup at any one time and the group has 20 on roll. About 33 attend the children’s club.
The inspectors said: “The setting works very closely with parents and carers and has an excellent relationship with the school.
“Children appear settled and happy and there is a good balance of adult-led and child-led activities.”
They were pleased with the way resources are used, the effectiveness with which it promotes equality and diversity and the behaviour of the children.
The manager, staff and committee said they were delighted with the report.
“To be rated at least good in everything and outstanding in many important areas is a fantastic achievement of which we are proud,” said Lisa Kennaugh, the playgroup manager.
Gillian Bowes, reception teacher and chairwoman of the playgroup committee and deputy head of Colden School, said: “We are particularly pleased that the excellent relationships with the school, parents and the wider community have been recognised.”
