Some schoolchildren are probably used to being told to stop clowing around in lessons.

But at Siddal Primary School, Halifax, they were given an excuse to do just that.

Pupils were visited by the Gary the Clown as part of five days of activities during Maths Week.

He entertained classes with a series of challenging maths problems – and ended the day with a maths magic show. Donna Myers, pastoral worker at the school, said: “The children absolutely loved it. It was something different and they got a lot from it.”
