‘Rastrick’s got talent’ - is a hit with parents

RASTRICK High School’s annual talent showcase was a sell out.

It was an opportunity for acts ranging from a solo pianist, drummers, contemporary and Irish dancer, rock bands and Rastrick’s version of the Spice Girls.

The judges included Mike Heaton, drummer with band Embrace and UK Beatboxing Champion and former student, Patrick Hirst.

Year 11 student Taylor Mallinson, a vocalist, guitarist and songwriter won the £50 first prize with her song “Roses in My Memory”.

Second prize went to Year 10 student Erika Mulkern who performed a very moving and beautiful contemporary dance and the youngest winner was pianist Edwin Farrar, Year 7.

Organiser Deborah Adamson, described it as a quality event.
