Ravenscliffe pupils to compete in table cricket

PUPILS from Ravenscliffe High School, Halifax, will join disabled youngsters from across Yorkshire in the fifth regional heat of the 2012 Macquarie National Table Cricket Competition tomorrow.

It takes place at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds, where play begins at 10.30am. The prize is the chance to play at the famous Lord’s ground later this summer.

Table cricket is played on a table tennis surface with specially-designed bats and balls. It enables young people with disabilities and special needs the chance to enjoy cricket and represent their school.

The competition is run by charity cricket club the Lord’s Taverners with support from financial services institution the Macquarie Group.
