Rotary clubs in Halifax apply for free trees from the Woodland Trust, to provide food for wildlife and help reduce our carbon footprint.

This month, we planted 600 trees around Cunnery Wood at Shibden with the help of over 30 pupils and staff from Salterlee Primary School, Shibden. This was an extension of our Peace Hedge and very apt for this year’s marking of the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.

The children learned about trees and the climatic benefits - and had a great time. We were helped by Chris Sutcliffe of Countryside Service. Anyone wishing to know more about our work or volunteering contact us on 01422 367091.
