Pupils at Old Earth Primary School in Elland were rewarded for making it into class with a snowman building competition.

About 320 children wrapped up in hats, scarves and gloves to take part in the fun.

Head teacher Paul reynolds said: “It was a nice reward for all the children who trudged through the snow to get here. They all had a really good time building them and it wasc a great way to start the week.

“We separated the teams into different houses and the blue house won. then afterwards we had a bit of a sledge-a-thon for 45 minutes and then children came back inside just in time for their maths class!”
