The club was set up last year and its popularity is growing with more and more pupils taking up the challenge of woods, hills and mud.

The idea to set up the club came from the pupils and teachers Mr Smith and Mr Griffiths were only too happy to help organise and plan the routes to be tackled.

The only problem with the rising numbers is fitting all the bikes onto the transport.

New year sevens at Hipperholme Grammar School do not need to worry about making new friends as the first few weeks are filled with opportunities outside the classroom to meet their new classmates.

In conjunction with National Poetry Day, local poet James Nash ran a masterclass on forming ideas and enjoying the writing of poetry.

This year’s theme was ‘memories’ and James was incredibly impressed with the quality of idea, vocabulary and confidence displayed throughout the day.
