North Halifax Grammar School held its Masterchef competition which was won this year by two Year 8 students, Reece Salter-Orme and Ben Cross.

They cooked a roast rack of lamb with a mixed bean salad and roasted tomatoes with balsamic vinegar followed by caramelised apple pastries and cream.

They narrowly beat the other contestants Katie Hirst and Jessica Wilson also from Year 8, Emily Williams and Elin Ha from Year 9, and Robyn King and Millie Robinson from Year 7 who also cooked up a storm of culinary delights.

Matthew Benson-Smith from the Cooking School at Dean Clough judged the entries.
