The visit - funded by the British Council - marked the global partnership between both schools which began in 2006 and has since involved curriculum activities reflecting on the two cultures.

During the week-long visit activities included a cooking demonstration as well as a presentation assembly, while Mrs Hamsy and colleagues visited the Town Hall as well as meeting the Mayor.

Gavin Davies, headteacher at Triangle, said: “It gives us the opportunity to give our children an example of a completely different culture.

“There was a lot of question and answer sessions, she also watched children create work to send to Sri Lanka and observed lessons. I think she enjoyed watching what we teach.”
