PUPILS of Park Lane Learning Trust ended the school year on a positive note handing over £5,000 to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

It was one of the school’s chosen charities and students were praised at a special assembly for their fundraising efforts.

The money will be used to train a guide dog which will be named by children at the school.

Halifax MP Linda Riordan also toured the Exley school and remarked on improvements made since her last visit three years ago.

Head teacher Stephen Taylor said it had been a really successful day which left everybody very pleased.
