Survey puts two Halifax schools in North’s top five

Two Halifax schools have been ranked in the top five of top performing schools in the North according to The Sunday Times Parent Power.

North Halifax Grammar School came second and Crossley Heath School fifth in the top 10 state secondary schools in the North.

Now in its 22nd year of publication, Parent Power is widely acknowledged as the most authoritative survey of the country’s best schools.

The rankings in the secondary school league tables are determined by the percentage of entries gaining A* to B grades at A-level this summer (which is given double weighting) and the percentage of entries returning A* and A grades at GCSE.

An analysis of Key Stage Two SAT outcomes at Level five from 2013 is used to rank state primary schools and independent preparatory schools.

The Gleddings Preparatory School was ranked as the top independent preparatory schools in the North.

Greenhead College in Huddersfield was also crowned The Sunday Times Sixth Form College of the Year. It ranks second in the newspaper’s national rankings for sixth form colleges this year.
