A Calderdale teacher visited the House of Commons for a prestigious event recognising her as the leading teachers in the country.
Helen Sutcliffe, hairdressing lecturer at Calderdale College, won the Pearson Teaching Award for Further Education/Lecturer of the Year in the north earlier this year and was then invited to the special ceremony at Westminster.
She now goes forward to join other winning teachers and awarded schools from across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland at the UK-wide Pearson Teaching Awards Ceremony held in London in October, and featured on BBC2.
Rod Bristow, president of Pearson UK said: “We want to recognise and support inspirational teachers, for their commitment to teaching and learning and improving the life chances of the next generation.
“All young people deserve the very best chance to make progress in their lives through education and great teachers make this happen.”
