A RECRUITMENT agency specialising in supply teachers has expanded into Calderdale.

Servoca Education Resourcing has just opened its eighth UK branch in Dean Clough, Halifax.

It is the only specialist agency of its kind to be based in the district.

Calderdale Council recently closed down its teacher supply list.

It means schools in the area have to work with teachers they already know, or use suppliers from further afield. Servoca managing director Jonathan Long said the new operation was founded to provide a more local service.

The team of recruitment consultants will focus on placing primary and secondary teachers in schools within a 10-mile radius of Halifax town centre.

Mr Long said: “We believe we have a great deal to offer Calderdale in terms of making quality placements across primary and secondary schools for competitive and affordable rates.

“One size doesn’t fit all and no two assignments are the same in this market.

“What we can guarantee is that we have a unique understanding of the market and have a proven reputation nationally in filling teaching roles across long or short term assignments.”

Five new jobs have been created by the new branch opening, and Mr Long said it represented many more employment opportunities teaching staff in Calderdale.
