AN exciting space stunt kicked off literacy week at Deanfield Primary School in Halifax.

As children arrived in school, they learned a large space rocket had crash-landed in the playground. A flight recorder box was found and played to pupils. Crime scene investigators sifted for evidence and fire crews sprayed the ship with foam to make it safe.

Children interviewed police and spent the day talking and writing about what happened.
