Electricity supply back on after power cut

A power cut affected 519 homes and businesses in the HX1 area of Halifax this morning (Tuesday).

The fault occurred at about 10.10am but power was reinstated at 11am.

Affected streets including Cromwell Terrace, Crown Street, Hanson Lane, Milton Terrace, St James Road, St James Street, Upper Kirkgate and Waterhouse Street.

A spokesman for Northern Powergrid said: “We got the supply back on by 10.57am by reconfiguring the network and re-routing supplies from an alternative source.

“Work to determine the root cause of the interruption is ongoing but we don’t expect any further disruptions to customers.”
