A Lightcliffe woman is running the London Marathon in her underwear to raise awareness of Breast Cancer Care.
It will be the second time mum-of-one Emma Pearson takes on the gruelling 26.2 mile race around the capital, but the first time she’s done it wearing only her bra and knickers.
“It’s something a bit different,” she said. “Hopefully it’ll help raise awareness and get some sponsorship in.”
Emma, of Park Close in Lightcliffe, works full time in business development and has a four-year-old son, Finley. She’ll be running the marathon with her boyfriend, Adam Connelly.
She said finding the time to train has been difficult, but said that the streets around the area made for ideal training conditions.
“There are so many hills around here, lots more than there are during the marathon, so I know if I can do it round here then I’ll be fine on the day,” she said.
As well as raising money for the charity, Emma wants to run a good time.
“I want to change the ending,” she said. “In 2010 I ran it in four hours 20 minutes and I wasn’t very happy when I crossed the line.”
“This time I want to try and do it in four hours and to enjoy it more.”
