The Environment Agency is calling for more volunteers to get involved in flood response plans for communities in the Calder Valley.
Following the establishment of new flood groups in Todmorden, Mytholmroyd and Hebden Bridge, the Environment Agency and Calderdale Council are working with communities to warn of the dangers of flash flooding and develop plans for how those at risk can respond during a flood to protect themselves and their properties.
Flood warden Keith Crabtree, of Todmorden, said: “We can’t stop it flooding but we can do what we can to be as ready as possible. We know we don’t have much time to react when it starts flooding here, so we want to put together a local community flood plan to make our response as quick and effective as possible.”
