Council is tackling parking problems

RESIDENTS in Dyson Lane, Ripponden, have been issued with badges for their cars to help the police deal with parking problems.

The scheme has been set up by Ripponden Parish Council in response to regular complaints about the amount of traffic using the road and the fact that is it sometimes blocked by parked vehicles.

“Discussions have taken place to agree a way forward between the parish council, Calderdale Council and West Yorkshire Police,” said parish clerk Anne Haynes.

“It was decided that resident permits would assist the police in identifying resident vehicles from non-resident and as such help in monitoring the situation.”

The response has been very positive with 66 permits being issued so far to 26 households.

The parish council has also asked the police to step up enforcement.
