Friends of Crow Wood Park held their second park clean-up in a bid to make the park a cleaner and greener space for the public.

Crow Wood Park, Sowerby Bridge, boasts tennis courts and a basketball court as well as green spaces for all of the community to use and enjoy.

Friends of Crow Wood Park offiially formed in May 2012 to smarten up the appearance of the park.

The clean-up sessions are open to anybody who wants to give a helping hand in litter picking; planting and watering flowers and other gardening tasks.

“Our second clean up was in the glorious sunshine - we all caught a bit of colour as well as getting fit and socialising. We managed to make some good progress and build on from the work done in our first clean-up in June,” said chair of Crow Wood Park Bob Galtrey.

The chair said that the team litter picked, cleaned pathways, weeded the edges, trimmed grass edges and completed other maintenance jobs - all in a day’s work.

“Parks were originally designed for the every man - for everyone in society and we want to see everyone in the community using the park.

“We’d love to get as many people on board as possible - we’d especially like to see more youngsters on board.”

The Friends have recently received good news - having being entered in Yorkshire in Bloom’s Community Involvement.
