Volunteers have received a funding boost to complete a green village trail.
Warley Community Association received nearly £2,000 from Northern Gas Networks to help provide a scenic walk through the village.
The cash will be used to tidy the cemetery belonging to New Hope Church. Overgrown trees and grass will be cut down, recycled outdoor furniture installed and a panoramic noticeboard put up.
Local children will also take part in workshops to make bat boxes and bug houses.
Volunteers have been working for several months to plant fruit trees and bushes, and carry out litter picks along the trail, which runs from the local school to the cemetery.
The grant was awarded from the gas distribution company’s Northern Green Networks programme, which helps grass-roots environmental projects.
Association spokeswoman June Illingworth said: “This funding couldn’t have come at a better time and now we have the opportunity to complete the trail.”
