Epileptic man’s shopping stolen while he had a seizure

Police are appealing for witnesses after an epileptic man was robbed while having a seizure in Dewsbury town centre.

The 51-year-old was shopping and was near Argos on the Princess of Wales precinct between 10am and 11am on January 25 when he suffered an epileptic seizure.

When he came to shortly afterwards, the man realised that his two plain coloured shopping bags, containing groceries and some cardboard folders that he had just bought, had been stolen.

The theft is being investigated by the Dewsbury and Mirfield neighbourhood policing team, who are now appealing for witnesses, or anyone with information to contact them.

The man had earlier been on Church Street and Westgate and, while CCTV in the area has not captured the crime taking place or revealed any possible suspects, anyone who saw the theft taking place, or noticed anyone following the victim, or acting suspiciously in the area that morning is being asked to contact PCSO Andrew Batty on 01924 431033.
