Angela McCambridge has spent the last five years in Dubai as a teacher after working in the profession for more than a decade in the UK.

But she now runs her own catering business Crave Coffee and Catering, which has been awarded the highest five-star hygiene rating from Calderdale Council. after returning to the area for family reasons.

“I was teaching at a private school but decided to come back to the area as we have family here and when we came back it seemed like a good opportunity to start something new,” she said.

“I was a business and accounting teacher for 14 years so I thought it was about time I put into practice what I was teaching!

“Plus I’d worked in bars and restaurants before.

“I got back last July and started looking at different locations before finding this place in December.

“The building needed a bit of work doing to it, but I’m really happy with it.

“It’s very different from teaching.

“But I like being my own boss and it’s been a really good experience meeting new people on a daily basis.”

The business currently employs two members of staff and is in the process of establishing a sit-down area at the retail outlet on Savile Park Road.

However, Angela would like to eventually open a second shop

She added: “We’ve got a really good customer base from the small businesses in the area and people popping in once, twice or three times a week for a sandwich.

“It’s a good area for passing trade.

“We knew it was a busy residential area.

“The local business community have been really supportive, popping in to introduce themselves and putting in regular orders.

“We’ve made a good start. Over the next 12 to 18 months we’d like to open a second shop somewhere.”
