A charity football match is being held to help raise funds for victims of a hen party’s minibus crash.

Former England and Sheffield Wednesday football players, Lee Sharpe, David Hirst, Steve Howey and John Beresford are to play at Frickley AFC Stadium, South Elmsall.

Bethany Jones, 18, from South Elmsall died and 20 other women were hurt when the bus and a lorry collided on the M62 in April.

Proceeds of the match will go towards Beth’s Angels, a fund set up by Beth’s cousin Mark Larkin in the wake of the accident.

The former footballers will be joined by other well-known ex-players including John Sheridan and Mark Crossley to play against local footballers, friends and family of the crash victims, Sheffield Wednesday said.
