Family flee blaze next door

A FAMILY had to flee their home when fire broke out at the house next door.

Crews were called to Chester Street in Boothtown, Halifax, at 3am yesterday after the fire in a bedroom.

Richard Priestley, 35, who lives next door, said he was woken by the man who lives at the house alerting him to the fire.

Seeing smoke billowing out, he rushed to get his wife and four-year-old twin girls up and out to stay at a house further down the street.

“There was a lot of smoke coming out the front and out the back,” he said.

“Our house was full of smoke too.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
