FC Halifax Town 1 Colwyn Bay 1: We must improve - Aspin
Boss Neil Aspin admitted Town got what they deserved as they were held to a draw by Colwyn Bay yesterday.
The Shaymen again lacked fluency and despite taking a 55th-minute lead through Richard Marshall, they were forced to settle for a point after Daniel Grannon capitalised on some poor defending at a corner with 12 minutes remaining.
"It is always disappointing when you don't win at home," he said. "But my honest opinion is that we did not deserve to win the game.
"I think that it was all right last year because we got off to a winning start and the confidence was there.
"I think for the lads who have come here in the summer it is still a big level of football in terms of the crowd and the stadium.
"With things not flowing, they look apprehensive and are not playing with any fluency.
"Football is not easy and you do not just turn up and win games.
"And when you are going through a bit of a tough time you have to stick together. We have to do that.
"When we have what I consider my best team out there I believe we will be all right.
"But it is not making great watching and I am not happy with the way we are playing at the moment."
Aspin added that Marshall's goal was just reward for the player who was making his first start of the season.
"It was a very brave header," said Aspin. "He is unfortunate because he has been one of the players who has been left out.
"But the best thing he could have done was come back and score a goal.
"I thought he did well overall considering he hasn't played."
The Shaymen were undone at a corner and that was particularly disappointing for Aspin.
"The only time Buxton threatened us was from set pieces and on Saturday the Chasetown winner was from a set piece," he said.
"Yesterday when Colwyn Bay put balls into the box we looked vulnerable.
"But if we spend more time in the opposition half it eliminates that."
Nathan Taylor was forced to leave the field after taking an elbow in the eye and was taken to hospital for checks.
