FC Halifax Town: Let's kick on - Junior
FC Halifax Town's dramatic late fightback for a point at Garforth Town on Tuesday can kick start their Unibond League Division One North campaign.
That is the view of midfielder Junior Brown, whose 86th-minute header got the Shaymen's fightback up and running.
He also supplied the delivery from a corner gave Halifax a 2-2 draw and ensured they avoided a fourth defeat in eight league starts.
"In the end it did feel like a win," said Brown. "It showed that we are a good side and that we are a team with character and hopefully it can kick start our season.
"We need to keep showing the same endeavour and we can start to move up the league."
Town, who entertain Skelmersdale at the Shay on Saturday, appeared to be spurred into action by some robust Garforth challenges in a second half which saw six of the home side's players booked.
"I am not quite sure what it was," said Brown. "I think we have played against a team that wanted to fight and it made us angry.
"It also got the crowd right behind us which spurred us on even more."
Brown eventually got Town's first goal with four minutes remaining and it was a great way to return to the starting line-up for the midfielder who missed six games through injury before appearing as a substitute at Harrogate on Saturday.
"We needed to get something and I just decided to get myself in there," he said.
"Luckily enough it ended up in the back of the net and it seemed to get us going
"I hasn't been the most exciting five weeks of my life. But I am fit now and hopefully I can keep my place and do well for the team and the club."
TOWN will face Curzon Ashton in the first round of the League Challenge Cup at the Shay on Saturday, October 18 (3.0).
The game has been brought forward from November 4 as neither side is involved in the FA Trophy first round.
The winnerswill be at home to either Clitheroe or Garforth Town in the second round
