FC Halifax Town: Peter eyes cup shock
FC HALIFAX Town will be bidding to pull off an FA Cup shock when they travel to Unibond Premier Division Nantwich on Saturday.
Four successive wins have seen confidence soar at the Shay and midfielder Peter Moore is hoping the run - that started in the first qualifying round of the competition - can continue.
"The FA Cup has helped us to kick start our season," he said. "A good week started with the win at Ryton.
"Hopefully we can go on a bit of a run and try to do something in the competition this year."
Boss Jim Vince made nine changes to his side for the midweek win at Ossett in the President's Cup.
But he seems likely to revert to the side that bagged seven goals last weekend against Salford for the trip to Cheshire.
"I think we have turned the corner now," said Moore. "It as a bit unsure at the start of the season when we were not getting the results we thought we should have been.
"But it seems to be coming together with some new lads arriving in and it looks like it is going the right way."
Moore is happy with his current form and with the recent change to three central defenders which he believes has benefited the midfield.
"The defence has been solid with three at the back, then wing backs can push on and we get a chance to get on the ball in the middle," he said.
"We can create things because we have an extra man there.
"And with Paul Gedman alongside Ashley Stott, we look as though we can pose more of a threat.
"We are also finishing what we are creating."
Had things turned out differently for Moore he would have remained in the Football League following his summer release by Wigan.
But has no regrets about joining Town. something he did partly thanks to the intervention of Southport boss Liam Watson.
"I went to Accrington and was promised something," he said. "But things don't always turn out the way you think they will.
"Southport manager Liam Watson put me in touch with Jim Vince. I liked it, he liked me and now we will just see what happens."
