FC Halifax Town: Shaymen look for big finish

INJURIES and suspensions mean Town caretaker boss Nigel Jemson has few options ahead of the final Unibond One North outing of the season at Chorley tomorrow.

Central midfield duo Paul Evans and Damien Allen miss the game as the bans following their red cards at Ossett Albion on Good Friday kick in.

And with a host of players sidelined by injury it appears that the former Nottingham Forest striker may be forced to switch to a 4-4-2 and play as an orthodox centre back.

That would enable Ritchie Sutton to move into midfield alongside Tom Baker with Mark Peers on one wing and Junior Brown on the other.

Baker is set to play despite struggling with a back injury that required treatment during the first half delay against Trafford last weekend.

Mark Hotte trained on Tuesday but it is unclear whether he has recovered sufficiently from the shoulder injury he sustained against Curzon and Luke Hinsley could get his chance at left back where he did well against Woodley last month.

Paul Gedman, who played 45 minutes last weekend, is still easing his way back after a lengthy lay off so Chorley-born Michael Barnes is set to continue in attack alongside Nathan Joynes.

Despite all the personnel problems, Jemson is desperate to end the campaign with an extra three points in the bag.

"I want to win every game I am involved in," he said, "But when you look at the options available it is tricky.

"Chorley have been on a decent little run recently and will be keen to beat Halifax Town.

"The one thing I don't want to see is an end of season mentality from the players."

Tomorrow's game is Jemson's last in charge in a caretaker capacity before the search begins for a permanent successor to Jim Vince.

And he admits it will be a strange feeling leading the side for the final time.

"I know it could be my last game for the club and there will be a bit of sadness because of that," he said. "I don't want to leave.

"If the worst comes to the worst and it is my last game, then I can hold my head up high knowing I have been committed to it from day one.

"I have done everything asked of me."
