FC Halifax Town - Stajic making great strides
HALIFAX Town may not have got the result they desired on the pitch last season but off it, commercial manager Peter Stajic enjoyed his fair share of success.
The Shaymen's bid for promotion from Unibond One North foundered in the closing stages of the campaign and they finished outside the play-off places.
That made life difficult for Stajic, but he believes he is making progress in both raising money for the club and raising its profile throughout the community.
"It has been hard," said Stajic who took the job last summer. "But it has been interesting and I have enjoyed it.
"What I wanted to get across was that it was a new club run by new people.
"People have given me the benefit of the doubt and that has been helped by the fact we have got out into the community working in the schools to spread the club's name.
"Things are coming on and we are turning peoples' heads."
Stajic has worked hard to get things moving after the darkest period in the club's history - its relegation from Blue Square Premier to Unibond One North.
"It was a standing start last summer," he said. "But there were not many games last season that were not sponsored which was great.
"We are already on the right road for next season although there are still a few slots to fill."
Having enjoyed success off the pitch in its first 12 months in existence, the new Halifax Town is looking forward to the completion of the Shay.
"The fact that the stand is being finished makes the future very exciting," said Stajic. "How many years has it been derelict?
"Now you can see it taking shape and it will bring new life to the football and rugby clubs."
Stajic is keen to keep spreading the world and said: "Talk to me. I will speak to anyone and any time.
"I just was to get across to people that this club is going places."
