FC Halifax Town v Burscough: Keeper has Cup target

TOWN have yet to concede a goal in the FA Cup and keeper Jonathan Hedge wants to keep it that way when Unibond Premier Burscough visit the Shay for a third qualifying round clash on Saturday.

In their previous three ties against Brandon - when Phil Senior was between the sticks - Norton & Stockton and Droylsden, the Shaymen have scored 12 goals and conceded none.

And they had not allowed the opposition to score in five knockout matches before Trafford bagged three in the FA Trophy last weekend.

"It is always disappointing to concede goals and we will put last Saturday down to a bad day at the office," said Hedge.

"I have started the season quite well and kept seven clean sheets and to go into a game like Saturday and concede three is disappointing.

"We will regroup and be looking to get back on track against Burscough with another clean sheet."

The Shaymen produced the upset of the second qualifying round when they dumped Blue Square North leaders Droylsden out of the competition 2-0.

Saturday's game will be their first at home during their current run with the Blue Square premier clubs waiting to join in the next round.

But Hedge knows they will have to improve on last weekend's display if they are to get through.

"If we play like we did against Trafford we will lose, if we play like we did against Droylsden, there is no reason why we can't get a good result.

"We can't get over confident and if we drop our standards 10 per cent from the Droylsden game it will not be a good result.

"We have to be on our game and treat them with the same respect we gave Droylsden."

Town have the memory of their stunning win at the Butchers Arms ground to draw on at the weekend.

"Everyone was fantastic at Droylsden," said Hedge, who had a fine game against the Bloods.

"We knew how hard it would be, but we went there and played really well.

"They had chances, but we took ours."
