FC Halifax Town v Clitheroe: Biggest test yet for Town

FC Halifax Town will be bidding to make it three league wins in a row for the first time this season when they entertain Clitheroe at the Shay tomorrow (3.0).

But they could not face a bigger test as they face the form team of Unibond One North, who have recorded seven straight victories.

Unbeaten in their last five, Town moved to within touching distance of the play-off places with their 5-2 win at Bamber Bridge on Tuesday night.

Clitheroe twice came from behind to beat Warrington on the same night to move up to second place in the table, two points behind Ossett Albion with three games in hand.

And Town boss Jim Vince is relishing the challenge the Lancashire outfit, whose only defeat of the campaign came against Mossley on opening day, will provide.

"This is the biggest one so far for me," he said. "They were beaten on the first day of the season but not since.

"They also won at Bradford Park Avenue in the FA Trophy last week.

"I know their joint manager Neil Reynolds well. He and Peter Smith will bring a good side to the Shay so this is the game that will show how far we have come."

Vince has been handed a boost ahead of the game with news that Tom Baker has agreed to stay with the Shaymen for the rest of the season.

And the former Park Avenue midfielder, who impressed in the midweek win at Irongate, has agreed despite what Vince described as 'considerable interest' from other clubs.

Damien Allen has had a couple of stitches inserted into the head wound that forced him to leave the field early in the second half at Bamber Bridge.

And skipper Tony Barras could make a welcome return to action after missing the last five matches with a shoulder injury.

Barras completed a rigorous fitness session on the Irongate pitch before watching Tuesday night's game from the dugout.

Junior Brown will be looking to extend his scoring run to four league games after he bagged a double on Tuesday while Ashley Stott will bid to reach double figures - and be one-third of the way to the target set by the manager.

FC Halifax Town (from): Kennedy, Coo, Brown, Jemson, Meadowcroft, Adams, Barras, Phelan, Allen, Smith, Stott, Daniel, King, Moore, Baker, Ellis, Hinsley, Ellison.
