FC Halifax Town v Durham City: All square at the Shay
FC Halifax Town 0 Durham City 0 HALIFAX showed a marked improvement as they returned to the Shay but drew a blank for the third time in four outings.
Town, without injured Ashley Stott, handed a first start to assistant manager Nigel Jemson.
Lewis Dodds fired in a shot from distance and Jon Kennedy, in for Phil Senior, saved well from Calvin Smith.
At the other end Jonathan Smith fired narrowly wide under pressure before having a shot saved by Durham keeper Craig Turns.
But the closest either side came to breaking the deadlock came 10 minutes before the break when Jemson headed a Brown cross narrowly wide.
Jonathan Smith's well-struck 63rd minute free kick deflected wide off a defender, but Town never attained the heights of the opening period.
And Tommy English's free kick at the other end flashed narrowly wide.
Peter Moore had a header from Luke Hinsley's cross saved by Turns and there was a late chance for the Shaymen when Brown forced a full length save from the keeper with a shot from the edge of the area.
