FC Halifax Town v Lancaster City: Joynes has high hopes
NATHAN Joynes will return to the Shay against Lancaster City on Saturday hoping for better luck than he had in his last spell at the club.
Injury restricted him to just five appearances for Halifax after Chris Wilder signed him on a permanent deal from Barnsley.
And having already featured in the away games at Newcastle Blue Star and Clitheroe, Saturday's match will take him within two of that total.
"It will be good to play at the Shay again," said Joynes, who last played at the ground in a goalless draw with Stafford Rangers on February 23 last year.
"I was disappointed with my last spell after playing the first few matches.
"I tore a thigh muscle so I didn't play as many games as I would have liked.
"I can't wait to get back there."
Joynes has settled quickly after signing from Stalybridge six days ago and believes that, from what he has already seen, a top five finish is well within Town's grasp.
"The club has effectively the same set up as when I was last here," he said.
"There is a lot of quality in the squad and from what I have seen so far we have a good chance of going up.
"Anything can happen at this stage of the season as long as we keep picking points up.
"The aim is to finish as high up the table and take it from there."
Town got back on track at Clitheroe on Tuesday night when they defied poor conditions to complete a 2-1 win.
"It was a tough game," he said. "The pitch was heavy and conditions were not good.
"But we worked really hard, dominating the first half after a slow start.
"We deserved to go in at least 2-0 up."
The opening goal of the game went in off Clitheroe defender Liam McManus from a Cavell Coo cross.
And while it was credited to Joynes inside the stadium, he admitted he was not in a position to stake a claim.
"I wish I could claim it, but I was some way away from it," he said. "Maybe I should have been a bit closer."
