FC Halifax Town v Mossley: Shaymen win again
FC Halifax Town 4 Mossley 2 Town cruised to a comfortable victory in this afternoon's Unibond One North clash with Mossley at the Shay.
Boss Neil Aspin included Andrew Lee, who arrived on Saturday morning from Ossett Town, on the bench but named the same line-up that started the previous week's victory over Harrogate Railway.
And the Shaymen opened well with Nicky Gray unlucky to see a glanced header hit Mossley keeper Peter Collinge who also saved well with his legs from Richard Marshall.
Mike Fish was denied by a great Aaron Hardy challenge before Town returned to the attack, Harry Winter's shot being blocked while Gray fired narrowly wide off a defender's leg
The breakthrough came in the 24th minute from a Scott Phelan cross on the right with Crossley forcing home from close range after Gray's initial header had been brilliantly saved by the keeper.
James Dean sent a weak shot into the keeper's arms before Mossley levelled in the 39th minute, Chris McDonagh blasting home after Town had failed to deal with Ben Richardson's long throw from the right.
But the Shaymen were back in front on the stroke of half time, Marshall finishing neatly from Dean's first time ball in from the right.
And they increased their advantage just before the hour mark when Gray managed to work half a yard of space for himself on the edge of the area and curled a shot home.
Mossley had a couple of chances to pull one back, Jonathan Hedge saving twice from Matt Kay.
But Town kept creating chances, Phelan and Baken both forcing full stretch saves from Collinge from the edge of the area, before Winter bagged their fourth goal with a precise strike from 20 yards out.
Mossley continued to plug away and got their second goal with a couple of minutes remaining when Andy Watson headed home a Ben Richardson cross.
