FC Halifax Town v Ossett Albion: Shaymen cruise to victory

FC Halifax Town 5 Ossett Albion 0 Town bounced back from their shock weekend defeat at Radcliffe in style, Nicky Gray grabbing a hat-trick as they crushed Ossett in tonight's Unibond One North clash at the Shay.

Town had a couple of half chances early on and took the lead after 12 minutes when Nicky Gray raced onto a James Dean knock down before finshing coolly from just inside the area.

Six minutes later Dean laid the ball off for Harry Winter but his well struck effort deflected wide off a defender.

Dean's shot from the right was turned round the post by he keeper as the Shaymen continued to push for a second goal.

And they got it midway through the first half when a corner was cleared back to Tom Baker whose second delivery into the area was headed home by Gray.

Ossett responded with two good chances, Jonathan Hedge being forced to go full stretch to save from Joe Thornton and Shane Kelsey.

Winter curled an effort round the post 10 minutes before the break and Phelan's shot from a Dean cross lacked the power to beat the keeper.

Town increased their lead in the 53rd minute when Gray completed his hat-trick, heading home Aaron Hardy's right wing cross.

Baker sent an effort wide and Phelan had another saved as the Shaymen continued to push forward.

They bagged their fourth in the 68th minute, Winter heading home from close range after Richard Marsjhall had hooked the ball across goal.

And Winter made it 5-0 seven minutes later, firing home from a Phelan cross.
