FC Halifax Town v Salford City: Barras wants even more
FC Halifax Town will be looking to use Tuesday's win over Warrington at the Shay as a launching pad for more success in the Unibond League Division One North.
That's the view of skipper Tony Barras who made his first competitive start for Jim Vince's side in the 1-0 midweek victory.
The game saw the Shaymen bag their first goal at home on their way to the points.
And that was a real fillip as they prepare for a second successive Shay outing against Salford City on Saturday.
"The lads were buzzing after the win," said Barras. "I think it was a big weight off their shoulders.
"That is especially true for the younger lads who played very well on Tuesday.
"We showed a bit more confidence in our display and it should boost us further for Saturday."
While Barras was delighted for the team as they backed up last weekend's FA Cup win with a second successive victory, he was also pleased for the Shay fans who had not had much to cheer about in the opening three home games.
"It could have been four or five in the first half," he said. "And in the end we just shut up shop and made sure we got the win.
"We have all been working very hard for that and the fans deserve it.
"We want to play football and enjoy it and we did that against Warrington."
Tuesday's game marked a belated full competitive debut for the skipper following knee surgery at the end of pre-season.
He played as part of a three-man central defence against Warrington alongside Steve Payne and Lincoln Adams.
And he was clearly delighted to have got a full 90 minutes under his belt.
"It has been very frustrating," he said. "But it just one of things really.
"Most players don't like having to watch their teammates when they are injured and I am no exception to that.
"I don't like watching, as old as I am. It was great to be back on the pitch with the rest of the lads on Tuesday.
"It was unexpected because I didn't know until I arrived at the ground - but it was a nice surprise."
TOWN will be away to Nantwich in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup on Saturday, September 27 after the Cheshire side beat fellow Unibond League Premier Division outfit FC United of Manchester 4-3 in a first qualifying round replay at Gigg Lane last night.

The cost for the trip will be 13 and coaches leave the Shay at 11.30am.
The coach for Tuesday's Presidents Cup tie at Ossett Albion will cost 10 and leaves the Shay at 6pm.
Town have re-arranged their league game against Skelmersdale, originally scheduled for a week on Saturday, for April 4.
