FC Halifax Town v Trafford: Boss has to shuffle pack
BOSS Jim Vince will have to shuffle his pack when FC Halifax Town entertain Trafford at the Shay tomorrow (3.0).
And it could mean starts for his assistant Nigel Jemson and youngster Luke Hinsley in defence as the Shaymen bid to bounce back after taking just one point from the last two games.
Vince admitted that skipper Tony Barras could be "out for a while" after leaving the field against Newcastle last weekend clutching his shoulder.
It has also been discovered that he suffered cracked ribs in the same fall which means a double blow for the manager.
Vince said that Steve Payne, who last played a game at Unibond Premier Nantwich in the FA Cup at the end of September, is still two or three weeks away from a return
"We have cover all over the field," said Vince, who added that Jemson and Hinsley were both "possibilities".
Jemson has not started a game since the West Riding Cup clash at Wakefield in October, although he did replace Barras against Newcastle.
Hinsley has made three substitute appearances in the league, but has never started a Unibond One North game for the Shaymen.
Vince is still waiting for the latest fitness reports on loan striker Ajay Leitch-Smith.
The Crewe Alexandra frontman has made just one appearance, at home to Chorley, since arriving from Gresty Road.
He missed the trip to Rossendale United and the home game with Newcastle after suffering a pulled hamstring.
Town will be bidding to complete their first league double of the campaign tomorrow having won at Trafford in their opening away clash of the season in August.
Goals from Jemson and Payne did the trick that evening, but Town did not have things all their own way against a side promoted from the North West Counties League at the end of last season.
"It will be difficult, just like it was in the game at their ground," said Vince. "We just have to make sure that we are right. "
Incredibly, just three of the players who started at Trafford on August 19 - Ashley Stott, Jon Smith and Junior Brown - are likely to feature in the squad tomorrow.
Tom Harban, Justin Walker and Craig Smith have all left the club while Payne, Ross Clegg, Neil Ross and Phil Senior are injured and Adams is suspended.
